چکیده

We provide three analytical fits to the CIE x̄, ȳ, and z̄ color matching curves commonly used in predictive and spectral renderers as an intermediate between light spectra and RGB colors. Any of these fits can replace the standard tabulated CIE curves. Using tabulated curves can introduce typos, encourage crude simplifying approximations, or add opportunities to download curves from sources featuring inconsistent or incorrect data. Our analytic fits are simple to implement and verify. While fitting introduces error, our fits introduce less than the variance between the human-subject data aggregated into the CIE standard. Additionally, common rendering approximations, such as coarse spectral binning, introduce significantly more error. We provide simple, analytic fits in Equations 2 and 3, but even our more accurate fit in Equation 4 only requires ten lines of code.

Characterization of a digital camera as an absolute tristimulus colorimeter

An algorithm is proposed for the spectral and colorimetric characterization of digital still cameras (DSC) which allows them to be used as tele-colorimeters with CIE–XYZ color output, in cd/m2. The spectral characterization consists in the calculation of the color-matching functions from the previously measured spectral sensitivities. The colorimetric characterization consists in transforming t...

Estimation of the Device Gamut of a Digital Camera in Raw Performance Using Optimal Color-Stimuli

Using a spectroradiometric model of capture for a digital camera based on the mathematical description of the empirical opto-electronic conversion spectral functions (OECSF), the capture of MacAdam or optimal spectra with fixed illumination level is simulated. This model of capture allows to change freely the f-number of the zoom-lens and/or the photosite integration time of the electronic shut...

Calculation of the Optimal Colors of Linear Input Devices

A new method for calculating the optimal colors of any linear input device is proposed. The algorithm searches systematically the two types of optimal colors in the R+G+B planes of the device. In this way, the loci of optimal colors associated to the input device can be plotted in its own chromaticity diagram, but also in CIE (human) color spaces. Thus, we can make a comparison in CIE color spa...

Cie Colour Appearance Models and Associated Colour Spaces

In 1931, the Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) recommended a colour specification system. After various additions over the years it now includes a series of colorimetric measures such as the tristimulus values ( XYZ ), chromaticity coordinates, dominant wavelength, and excitation purity for colour specification and colour matching, CIELAB and CIELUV colour spaces for presenting col...

Reproduction Model with Luminance Adaptation for Digital Cameras

From real spectroradiometric data, we propose an algorithm to obtain camera opto-electronic conversion functions (camera OECFs) for different values of the lens aperture N from the opto-electronic conversion spectral functions (OECSFs). Working in the linear range of the inverse OECFs, we have found that the slope vs. lens aperture function is fitted by a second order polynomial. This happens a...
